A thick rubberized butyl tape that forms an instant waterproof bond with no cure time, conforming over gutter seams, flashings, pipes, and metal roofs. Its extreme -70 to 200F range even lets it apply wet or underwater. But it cannot be repositioned once placed, is not made for asphalt shingles, and needs a smooth, clean surface to conform.

Pros

  • Instant waterproof bond with no cure time; press it on and the patch is done
  • Thick butyl conforms over gutter seams, flashings, pipes, and RV/metal roofs cleanly
  • Extreme -70 to 200 F service range and works applied wet, cold, or even underwater

Cons

  • Cannot be repositioned; once it touches the surface the bond is permanent
  • Not made for asphalt shingles, so it is the wrong tool for a typical composition roof leak
  • Needs a reasonably smooth, clean surface; it will not conform well over granular shingle texture
