Both are 35mm concealed euro hinges that clip on the same way; the difference is the damper. Soft-close hinges (Blum BLUMOTION) glide the last inch shut silently and stay consistent for years, and this one even has a switch to disable the damper on light doors. Standard self-close hinges (Amerock) use only a spring — they snap shut and can clack or slam, but cost about half as much. For kitchen and bath doors you open daily, soft-close is worth every cent. For a garage, laundry, rental flip, or any job with 30+ doors where budget rules, self-close does the essential job of keeping doors shut.
